Charlene "Weenie" (Kotalik) Brennan

March 25, 1945 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

  Charlene “Weenie” Brennan, 72, of East Jordan, died Monday, November 6, 2017, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

    Charlene was born on March 25, 1945, in East Jordan, the daughter of Edward and Melvina (Davis) Kotalik.  She was a member of East Jordan High School Class of 1963.  On May 26, 1962, she married Stephen “Bun” Brennan.

  Earlier in her life, Charlene had worked 12 years as an aide and cook at Grandvue Medical Care Facility. 

  Charlene and her husband started, owned and operated the “Round Table” restaurant.  The restaurant was located where the Cannonball Project is currently located in downtown East Jordan.  Charlene also had cooked many years for the East Jordan Rotary Club.  She was a fan of playing cards.

  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan. 

  Charlene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and good friend.  She will be extremely missed by all.

  She is survived by two daughters, Renee Brennan and Rhonda Brennan; grandchildren, Nash Johnston, Kaitlyn Johnston, Stephanie Buckholz, Stacey Buckholz, and Madison Buckholz; one brother, George (Judy) Kotalik; two sisters, Judie (William) Merwin and MaryAnn (Bob) Kotsch; and one sister-in-law, Sally Kotalik.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen “Bun” Brennan in 2009, father, Edward J. Kotalik, Sr. in 1988; mother, Melvina “Melzie” Kotalik in 2016; sister, Margaret Ann Kotalik at birth; brother, Edward J. Kotalik, Jr. in 2013.

  Funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan with Rev. Fr. Chet Collins officiating. 

  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions may be directed to East Jordan Ambulance Association, PO Box 223, East Jordan MI 49727 or the Chemotherapy and Infusion Center, 14700 Lake Shore Drive, Charlevoix, MI 49720.
