Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on June 7, 2017 at the Karmonas Cancer Center in Detroit, Michigan with his wife and daughters by his side.
  Kim was born May 14, 1948 to the late Bernard and Leona (Buckay) Tonkavich in Detroit, Michigan. He married Cynthia Woodward on August 22, 1970. He is survived by his loving wife Cyndy: daughters Marsha Zimmerman (Jason) and Melissa Tonkavich; and grandchildren Cohen and Marlee Zimmerman. Kim has two brothers Robert Tonkavich (Patti) of Midland, Michigan and Thomas Tonkavich (Terry Ann) of Gainesville, Florida.
  Kim graduated from Ferris State University in 1971 with a degree in Pharmacy. He began his career in pharmacy at Saginaw General Hospital. He then moved to Group Health Service which later became Blue Care Network. His final assignment was Director of Pharmacy for the Blue Care Network Clinical Staff Models. Kim retired in 2010 but continued his love for pharmacy by acting as a private consultant for the pharmaceutical industry.
  Captain of Dreamweaver, Charisma and lastly Endless Dream, Kim loved sailing the Great Lakes with his family and friends during the summer months. His love of the water lives on through his wife, daughters and grandchildren. Once the snow came Kim could be found skiing down the slopes both in Michigan and out west. When the weather kept him in he could be found in his workshop working on countless projects.
  We will always remember Kim’s love for his family, his wink for granddaughter Marlee and the projects he and grandson Cohen made in the workshop.  
Family and friends will gather together to celebrate Kim’s life on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Sommerset Pointe Yacht Club, 4416 Lakeshore Drive
