Casper F. Endlein

  Casper F. Endlein, 87, of East Jordan, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

  He was born on March 26, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Casper R and Ruth Anne (Cummings) Endlein.

  Cas, as he was known, graduated from Visitation High School in 1954, in Detroit, Michigan.  He attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Wayne State University in Detroit. After many years of employment, Cas retired from Ford Motor Company in 1996.

  Cas had a variety of interests throughout his life including photography, sports, bird watching, wine, reading, music, lake life and pizza Fridays. 

  He was overjoyed to see his favorite ball team, the Chicago Cubs, win the World Series in 2016. His dedication to the team was proudly displayed via his car's "4UCubs" license plate.

  Later in life, Cas developed a passion for woodworking and voraciously consumed books, magazines and videos on the subject. His application of his knowledge led to unique results but brought him great pleasure.

  Cas was known for his mischievous ways and, over time, he shared stories of his hijinks. He most recently shared a story of his mastery of making and selling fake IDs for his fellow Marquette University students; he will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit. 

  He is survived by his wife, Karen Endlein; daughters, Kristen Anne Locklear and Kathleen Frances Liu (Stanley Liu); son, Kurt Joseph Endlein (Rae Ann Kolankowski-Endlein); granddaughters, Emily Katherine Locklear (Luke Sturgill) and Madeline Marie Endlein; grandsons, James Loyd Locklear and Devin Blaine Kurzhals-Hawley (Abigail Rae Hawley); great granddaughter, Cora Jean Marie Hawley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

  Cas deeply loved his nieces and nephews and was honored to be regarded as a father and grandfather figure by many of them. 

  A memorial mass will be held Friday, January, 26, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Genevieve - St. Maurice Catholic Parish, 29015 Jamison Street, Livonia, Michigan 48154.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time.

  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
