Andrew James Boyer

Andrew James Boyer, age 28, unexpectedly passed away on May 16, 2019. Andrew is survived by his best friend and partner (wife to be) Kristen Kovel; his loving parents Jim and Diane Boyer; his dear little sister, Ellen Boyer; his mentor, partner in crime, and grandpa, Dale Manning; his partner in wit, and beloved grandma, Elaine Manning; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and community members.

Andrew was born February 24, 1991. He was the most adorable, chubby, brown- eyed, spiky-haired baby, and he hit the ground running...verbally at least. He was never afraid of expressing his progressive opinions, and he had many. Andrew never sat still, and because of this, his death is rippling globally. From his modest house in his small hometown of East Jordan, he was on a mission to change just about everything that he felt was unjust. He worked briefly in social work but chose manual labor and city politics instead, expressing his proletarian views loudly and often. He worked tirelessly, as a dedicated leader, to improve humanity and make our country equitable for all people. He worked tirelessly, period. Andrew did everything for everyone. He was determined to change the world. He did change the world, and in ways that we never expected.

With our hearts full of admiration and awe, and now completely broken, we sit around the table trying to write something to represent Andrew. We cannot do this obituary justice, which would have been better had he written it himself. Because everything was better with Andrew. To quote him, “The water in the photo looked so black and dismal, but the foliage on both sides looked serene and beautiful. I see death as a river that we cross.”

On Wednesday, May 22 from 4 to 8 PM, all are welcome to join the family at the Boyer family farm (5018 South Waterman Rd., East Jordan) to celebrate Andrew‘s life.
