Arleen Marie Barber, 91, of East Jordan died Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
She was born on April 14, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Violet (Howell) Bolser. She moved to East Jordan in 1942. On February 3, 1945 in East Jordan, she married Roscoe V. Barber. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2007.
Arleen loved her family and was a hard worker. She worked on the family Cherry Orchard on Peninsula Road. Arleen was willing to jump in and do whatever was needed. Many times, she drove trucks loaded with cherries to the local processing plant. She also loved cats and go barefooting.
Arleen is survived by four children, Bonnie (Richard) Keene of East Jordan, Terry Barber of East Jordan, Carolyn (Tim, Sr.) Baker of Boyne City and Marilyn (Robert) McCombs of Charlevoix; five grandchildren, Melissa Youker of Kingsley, Jeff (“Jeffie” as known by Grandma) McCombs of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Gordon of East Jordan, Timothy Baker, Jr. of Boyne City and Michael Baker of Vanderbilt; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Joan Andrews of West Virginia; two brothers, Bruce (Shirley) Bolser of Scottsville, and Dale (Carla) Bolser of East Jordan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Christie Barber Galvin and Kellie Barber; one brother, Chester Bolser; two sisters, Bernice Oliver and Fern Oliver; and her parents.
