Belgie Alex Caballero, age 40, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017, in Florida.

    Belgie attended the East Jordan schools since the family moved here in 1989. She was an active participant in many extracurricular activities and regularly on the Dean’s list. She further excelled in her high school years by being elected Homecoming Queen, as well as Miss East Jordan and Prom Queen in her senior year 1996. 

        Belgie always had her eye on joining the Navy and getting a medical degree. After earning several stripes in the navy, she began her civilian career as a nurse-midwife.

      She is survived by her 8 year old son Miles in Florida; her stepfather, Santiago Hernandez in East Jordan;  her brother Salvador “Tito” Caballero in Charleston North Carolina; her sister Gracie Hernandez; as well as godparents Marilyn and Wally Goebel and Ken and Franny Bluhm, also of East Jordan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Jordan.
