Ervin Lee Prevo, 83, of East Jordan, died Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 7, 1935, in East Jordan, the son of Joseph and Alena (Cross) Prevo. On October 10, 1953 in East Jordan, he married Clara McWatters and they raised five children.
Ervin was one of the last brakeman who operated Engine #6 of the Southern Railroad. He also had worked at the East Jordan Creamery of the Michigan Milk Association as a driver of a milk truck, Willflows stainless steel tank factory in Charlevoix and Petrie Construction in East Jordan. Most of his life, He was self-employed welder for Erv’s Portable Welding.
He enjoyed hunting bear and deer, fishing, camping, playing cards, peeling potatoes at the Snowmobile Club, grooming the snowmobile trails, snowmobiling, flying, and stock car racing. He had owned a plane.
Erv was a member of the East Jordan Sno-mobilers, Inc.
He is survived by his five children, Lloyd (Renee) Prevo of East Jordan, Joe (Sharon) Prevo of Millersburg, Charlie (Cheryl) Prevo of East Jordan, Barb (Brian) Towne of Boyne City and Connie (Don) Massey of East Jordan; his significant other, Patsy Wood of Mancelona; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, Gene Prevo of Clarkson and Herman Prevo of Pontiac; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Erv was preceded in death by his wife, Clara S. Prevo on April 13, 2011; one son, Richard “Dickie” Prevo in 1960; his parents; four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan. Rev. Bart Adams will officiate with interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan in the spring.
The family will received friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
