Gerald Lee “Jerry” Bingham, 86, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility, East Jordan.
He was born in Boyne City on September 29, 1932, the son of Merle and Alice (Webster) Bingham.
Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in 1949, and was honorably discharged in 1952.
He married Kathleen Nemecek on September 28, 1957, in Elmira and they raised five children. Jerry was in the well drilling business from 1963, the owner of Bingham Well Drilling. He sold his business to his youngest son, Gerald L. “Jerry” Bingham, II in 1990.
He enjoyed the casino, traveling, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, and hunting. He loved his family and the man loved to work.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Kate" Bingham; five children, Tim (Laurie) Bingham, Cindy (Keith Peebles) Bingham, Brett (Brenda) Bingham, Jane (Randy) Danforth, Jerry (Kelly) Bingham, II; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Caroline Vercrysse. He was preceded in death by eight siblings and three grandchildren, Jeremy Bingham, Nicholas Bingham and Emma Hunt.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan. Rev. Father Peter Wigton will officiate with interment following in the spring at St. John Nepomucene Praga Cemetery, Jordan Township, Antrim County.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. A rosary will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan.
