Karen Woehlert Obituary

Karen Marie Woehlert, 61, died on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at her home in East Jordan.

  She was born on May 15,  1957, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of Roy E. and Kay M. (VanDerworp) Woehlert.

  She received her B.A. in Business Administration from Michigan State University.

  Karen worked for Michigan State University in the Human Resources Department for 35 years.  After retirement, she moved to East Jordan.

  She enjoyed kayaking, gardening with vegetables and roses, jigsaw puzzles, reading, her pet fishes and shopping.

  Karen is survived by her mother, Kay M. Woehlert of East Jordan; four siblings, Kathy (Albert) Legato, Jr. of East Jordan, Roy D. (Susan Grice) Woehlert of Aquilar, Colorado, Karol (John) Smith of Halstead, Kansas and Rick Woehlert of East Jordan; one uncle, David (Gwen) VanDerworp of Smyrna, Tennessee.  She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Woehlert on June 28, 1999.

  A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the Penzien Funeral Home in East Jordan, MI.  Rev. Craig Pahl of the East Jordan United Methodist Church will officiate.

  In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Hospice of Michigan, 830 S. Otsego Ave, Gaylord, MI 49735.
