Timothy Bruce Malpass

 Timothy Bruce Malpass, 67, of East Jordan, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at his son’s home in Bay Shore, Michigan.

   He was born on July 7, 1950 in Charlevoix, Michigan, the son of F. Bruce and Angela (Cooley) Malpass.

  Tim grew up in East Jordan, graduated from the East Jordan High School in 1968 and then attended Ferris State College.  

  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #227, 305 Main Street, East Jordan MI 49727.

  For a short time, Tim served on the East Jordan Ambulance service, now known as Jordan Valley EMS, as well as an East Jordan Reserve Police Officer.  He had worked at East Jordan Iron Works, now known as EJ, as a shipping/receiving coordinator.  He retired on April 20, 2012, after working for forty-one years.  He was very proud of his family business heritage.  He’s a fourth generation family member.

  Tim loved playing his guitar and singing.  He was in several local bands over the years.  He also enjoyed birds, history, his family, and spending time at his hunting cabin in the Upper Pennisula.

  He is survived by two children, Heidi Angela Malpass of Lewiston and Brian Timothy (Kim) Malpass of Bay Shore; four grandchildren, Austin, Devon, Britney and Stella; one sister, Cathy (Fred Lake) Malpass of Portage; three brothers, Todd (Marilyn) Malpass of Charlevoix, Tracy (Brenda K.) Malpass of East Jordan and Tad (Brenda L.) Malpass of East Jordan; his dear aunt and uncle, Dolores and Philip Malpass of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

  A private graveside service with military honors was held at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.  The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, One Hiland Drive, Petoskey, MI 49770 or the American Legion Post #227, 305 Main Street, East Jordan MI 49727.

  The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
