Barbara Ann Balch

Barbara Ann Balch, 79, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at home in East Jordan, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 3, 1941, in Charlevoix, Michigan.  She was raised by Jim and Helen Lord in East Jordan and graduated from East Jordan High School in 1959.  Over her life, Barbara had worked many different jobs that included being a “Care Giver”.  She was a teacher.  She cleaned houses for a living.  She took care of so many people including her family.

Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan. 

She loved her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed cooking, ceramics, crafting and thrift shopping.

She is survived by four children, Ann (Con) Shuherk of Payne, Ohio, Bob Balch of East Jordan, Ken (Tami) Balch of East Jordan and Mike (Bobann Fick) Balch of East Jordan; nineteen grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren plus one grandchild on the way; one sister, April Ager of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four brothers, Eddie Ager of St. Clair Shores, Dale Lord of East Jordan, Jerry Ager of Texas and Rick (Carol) Lord of East Jordan; sister-in-law, Pat Lord of East Jordan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry & Joanie Balch of Charlevoix; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Terry Lord and Mike Ager; and one sister-in-law, Andrea Ager.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020, at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan.  The family will receive friends at church from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at church with a Rosary service to be held at 11:30 A.M.  Memorials may be given to St. Ann's Altar Society, PO Box 379, East Jordan MI 49727.  The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.
