Barbara Ruth (Bretzke) Sutton

  Barbara Ruth Bretzke Sutton, 82, of East Jordan, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in Charlevoix.

  She was born August 4, 1940, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Mary Louise (Smith) Bretzke.
  She studied education at Michigan State University and Wayne State University. Barbara enjoyed a long career of teaching at public schools alternative education programs.
  She married Lawrence “Larry” Sutton on November 23, 1966. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2009.
  Barbara is survived by two children, Andrea Sutton and Larry (Jessica) Sutton; three grandchildren, Catrina Mraz, Ron (Kaja) Mraz and David Mraz; three siblings, Louise Welch, Ed (Bev) Bretzke and Tom (Denise) Bretzke; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 11:00 A.M at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.  

  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.

  On Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., the family will receive friends at Swartz Funeral Home, Inc., 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Michigan.   

  A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 East Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan.
