Bethany Sue (Penzien) Chall

  Bethany Sue Chall, age 68, passed away early Friday, June 9, 2023, at Trinity Health Oakland Hospital (St. Joseph Mercy Oakland) in Pontiac, MI.

  She had a long fight that started in 2014, with a bacterial infection that caused sepsis and finally complications from treatment for lung cancer that was diagnosed in January of 2023.  

  She was born September 10, 1954, in Adrian, MI to Rev. Leland E. and Joanne I. (Wieland) Penzien.  She married Craig Chall and had four children, Corey, Colin, Cristin, and Cary.  Family was her passion.  She deeply loved her entire family, but especially her children and grandchildren.  They were the reason she fought so hard and long.  

  Bethany was a friend to many.  Everywhere she was for any length of time had her making lifelong friends.  Even the time served in multiple nursing homes for physical rehabilitation allowed her to make great friends that she communicated with to her last.

  She is survived by her children, Corey (Denise) Chall, Colin Chall, Cristin (Alicia Hope) Chall, and Cary Chall; grandchildren, Justin Chall, Dillian (Angelica Elizalde) Chall, Nathan Chall, Lizbeth Chall, Jacen Chall, and Kiel Hope-Chall; her mother, Joanne Penzien; brothers, Mark (Cyndi) Penzien, Clark (Theresa) Penzien, Craig Penzien; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Leland E. Penzien on January 17, 1993.

  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at the Dexter United Methodist Church, 7643 Huron River Drive, Dexter, MI 48130.  Pastor Matt Hook will officiate.  Interment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Bay City, Michigan.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 Noon  until service time at the Dexter United Methodist Church.
