Betty Jane Pearsall, 98, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the home of her daughter in Ironton.
Betty was born in Crandon, Wisconsin to Lonnie and Harriet (Scott) Adkins..Her mother passed away when Betty was 13 and she helped raise her 6 siblings. She married Harry Pearsall on September 15, 1945, in East Jordan and they purchased a farm on Ranney road. In addition to farming, Betty worked at Burnett foods for several years. When they moved to Charlevoix, Betty became a quality inspector at American Mold. She retired in 1972 and begin her career as a full time volunteer.
Betty has been a member of the East Jordan United Methodist Church, The South Arm Women's Club, The VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, The East Jordan Senior Center Advisory Board, the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging, and the Red Hatters.
In 2014, Betty was selected as the East Jordan Citizen of the Year in recognition of her lifelong volunteer work in the community at the Care and Share food pantry, Senior Center, Grandvue Medical Center, VFW, American Legion, and her church.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sherrel (Jack) Bergmann of Ironton; her son, Michael (Patty Reinhart) Pearsall of Charlevoix: five grandchildren, Michelle Pearsall (deceased), Tony(Jenny) Pearsall, Krista Pearsall, Andrew Bergmann, and Benjamin(Savannah)Bergmann; ten great grandchildren and twenty nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry on June 15, 2002, her granddaughter Michelle: her brothers: Charles, John, Lonnie, and Raymomd and her sisters Mae Mathers and Helen Bond.
She enjoyed travel, gardening, helping at the Senior Center, fishing, crafts, reading, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 1:00pm at the Penzien Funeral Home, in East Jordan. A celebration of her life will continue at 2:00pm at the Senior Center in East Jordan. interment of Betty's cremains will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that the memorials be given to the Care and Share food Pantry in East Jordan or the United Methodist Church in East Jordan..
