Boyd W Carson, 92, of East Jordan, died Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Petoskey, Michigan.
He was born on the family farm near Advance on January 30, 1933, the son of Walter and Della (Baker) Carson.
Boyd worked on the family farm for a good portion of his life. He married Rose M. Krolikowski on May 15, 1971. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2017.
He also worked at the Tannery in Boyne City for five years; then at Dura in East Jordan for 30 years and retired in 1995. In 1996, he went to work at the canning plant in East Jordan until his second retirement in 2005. Boyd and Rose also delivered newspapers locally from 1987 to 2016.
He enjoyed cutting wood and raising chickens and goats. In his earlier years, he enjoyed raising pigs and horses. Boyd had the special skill of yodeling.
Boyd is survived by one son, William (Kristin) Carson of East Jordan; four stepchildren, Stephen (Inelda) Renkiewicz of Bay City, Thomas (Robin) Renkiewicz of East Jordan, Charles (Kelly) Renkiewicz of Rutherfordton, North Carolina and Kathleen (Jim Blaha) Smeltzer of East Jordan; 20 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, of 46 years in 2017; one grandson, Alex Carson; one stepson, John Renkiewicz; one great great grandchild, Ashley Carruthers; his parents; step mother, Isabelle Pabo-Carson; and eighteen brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan.
