Carole Rosalie Frey, 82, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at home in Wilson Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan.
She was born June 21, 1939, in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of Lloyd and Edwina (Howse) Ward. She moved to Flint, Michigan with her parents and grew up there. Carole graduated from Flint Central High School in 1957 and then attended Baker College where she learned bookkeeping.
Carole married John Richard Frey on May 14, 1960, in Flint. They made their home in Davison to raise a family.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Buick Motor Company for five years until 1963. She then took time to raise her children and enjoyed being a stay at home mom.
Before retiring to East Jordan, Carole was very active at the Davison Community Baptist Church, where she typed and printed the weekly bulletins. She also sang in the choir, worked in the nursery, and took her turn cleaning the church. She was also a very active member and church secretary of the Grace Baptist Church, Gaylord.
Carol’s greatest desire was to share her love of God to those around her.
She enjoyed being a mom, making all sorts of crafts to sell them around the area. Carole also enjoyed hunting mule deer in Wyoming with her beloved husband. They came home every year with a couple of deer.
Carole is survived by her husband, John R. Frey of East Jordan; three loving children, Stephen Frey of Linden, MI, Colleen (Dale) Ritchie of Lowell, MI and David (Heather) Frey of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Nathan (Serena) Ritchie of Grand Rapids, MI, Samantha (Adam) Miller of Chicago, IL, Chloe Frey of Linden, MI and Max Frey of Linden, MI; and one great grandson, Theodore Ritchie of Grand Rapids, MI.
