Chuck was born November 30, 1947, in Charlevoix, Michigan, the son of Leslie and Delores Haney (Kotalik).
Chuck was drafted into the Vietnam War where he served in the 6th of the 31st attached division near Saigon from April Fool’s Day 1968 to April Fool’s Day 1969.
When he returned from the war, Chuck met Cathryne Kraemer and they were married on September 12, 1970. Chuck and Cathi had two children, Charles Haney, Jr. (East Jordan) and Cindy (Troy) Thomas (East Jordan) and four grandchildren, Abby Haney, Anna Haney, Sawyer Thomas, and Ethan Thomas.
In 2011 Chuck retired from East Jordan Iron Works after 41 years, his final years having been spent in the hydrant and valve division. He loved spending time at the family shack where he enjoyed gardening, camp fires with family and friends, cutting firewood, hunting, and cookouts. Most of all Chuck loved spending time with his grandchildren and dogs, appreciating wildlife, and cooking.
