Chris Oliver Obituary

Chris Oliver, 53, of East Jordan, died on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

He was born on October 28, 1968, in Charlevoix to Bob and Marilyn (Peters) Oliver. Chris grew up in East Jordan, graduating from East Jordan High School in 1986.

Shortly after graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Hodges on October 18, 1986. Together they raised five children who lovingly referred to him as “Pops”.

After working for over twenty years at Charlevoix Manufacturing, Chris headed down a new career path as a real estate agent and home caregiver. He had also previously served as a first responder with the East Jordan EMS.

In his free time, Chris enjoyed playing soccer and sharing his love of the sport with others as a coach. He was a dedicated volunteer to the 4H soccer program, spending many nights lining fields in preparation for games. He also enjoyed hunting and would always take the kids out to bait the deer when they were little as part of his annual birthday tradition.

Chris was delighted when his new little hunting buddy; Eli arrived just a few weeks ago whom he “loved to pieces”.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Oliver; five children, Drew (Abby Mier) Oliver, Grant (Stephanie) Oliver, Hannah/Mack Oliver, Graham Oliver, and Griff Oliver; one grandson, Eli Oliver; mother, Marilyn Oliver; two brothers, Bob (Julie) Oliver and David Oliver; sister, Sara Oliver; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Oliver Sr. in 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Community Reformed Church, Charlevoix. Pastor Chip Sauer will officiate with interment following at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at church.
