Daniel Gene Faust

  Daniel Gene Faust, 93, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at his home in Wilson Township, near East Jordan.

  He was born on November 19, 1929, to Elmer and Ruth (Hayden) Faust at their home in Eveline Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan.

  After graduating from East Jordan High School in 1949, he married Hilda Lou Olson, and they made East Jordan their home for 69 years until her death in 2019.

  He was a quiet, kind man who was always ready to lend a helping hand.

  Dan worked as a custodian at the East Jordan Public Schools and then worked as a lab technician for 29 years for the East Jordan Iron Works, now known as EJ, USA.  He retired in 1993.  After retiring, he worked at Grandvue Medical Care Facility for several years.

  He enjoyed nature, music and astronomy.  He loved making and playing dulcimers.

  He was a member of the Community of Christ Church.

  Dan was a loving and devoted  husband and father and will be greatly missed by his daughters, Linda Pollos of Petoskey and Susan (Frank) Pennington of Gaylord; three grandchildren, Luke (Becky) Pennington of East Jordan, Steve Pollos of Petoskey and Tricia (Edward) Szymanski of Spring Lake; seven great grandchildren.

  He is also survived by brother-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Olson; sister-in-law, Janet Olson; and many nieces and nephews. 

  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Zepha (Rolland) Beyer, Vernetta (Jack) Craig, Esther (Richard) Phillips; and brother, Ed (Margaret) Faust.

  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
