Dennis Louis Peterson

Dennis Louis Peterson, 63, left us suddenly, Wednesday, October 21, 2020, from a massive heart attack.

Denny was born on January 21, 1957, in Charlevoix, Michigan, to Leon L. and Jean Christine ( Dennis) Peterson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Christopher.  Survivors include son, Cory (Geneieve) Peterson, daughter, Amanda Peterson, grandchildren, Aiden and Kylee Peterson; siblings, Jack (Barb) Peterson, Nancy (Ted) Sherman, Allan (Beth) Peterson and Frank (Julie) Timmer; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

Denny was a proud U.S. Army veteran and following his discharge, he spent nearly his entire career in automobile management and car sales in Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Michigan.  He retired in January of 2019, from Fox Motors in Charlevoix.

Denny was a great Cook and he also loved to golf.  He possessed a quick wit and a great sense of humor.  He was an animal lover and recently brought home a sweet little puppy he called, “Amber”.  In recent years, he had some health issues that occasionally limited his activity but when he was feeling good, some of his happiest times were spent with his siblings, family,  and friends, enjoying time at the “Barn” or picnics at the lake.  This fall, he joined brother, Allan, and friends, learning to process, pack and freeze fresh corn for the winter! He loved that day!  This past Christmas, he hosted the Peterson Christmas gathering at our mom’s house for all the siblings and nieces and nephews who could attend, treating us to his Chicken Alfredo and Chocolate Pie.  It was an awesome celebration and now a wonderful memory!  He was so loved and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank our amazing East Jordan ambulance service and Denny’s close friends, Mike and Sarah, who did all they could to save him.  The family requests memorials to be sent to the East Jordan Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 223, East Jordan, Michigan 49727. 

Friends and family are welcome to a graveside military service to be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan, where his ashes will rest with his son, Christopher.  The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.
