Dorothy Archer, 78, of East Jordan, died April 17, 2023, in Arizona.
She was born on August 28, 1944, in Charlevoix, Michigan, the daughter of Lewis and Rosetta “Pearl” (Watrous) Dewey.
She graduated from Bellaire High School in 1962. She received her associate degree in Petoskey.
On June 6, 1962, in Bellaire, she married Denny Archer.
Dorothy worked at the East Jordan Public Schools as a teacher’s aide for 15 years, a personal tutor for 11 years and also 15 years at the East Jordan Iron Works, now known as EJ, USA. She retired in 2002
She enjoyed volunteering in many ways including at her time at Crossroads, in East Jordan. She loved working with children “one on one”. She loved being a mother and grandmother.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Denny Archer of East Jordan; three children, Dawn Marie (Kevin) Hall of Indian River, James (Tracey) Archer of East Jordan and Debra Archer of Lafayette, Indiana; five grandchildren, Katie, Amy, Dale, Amanda and Benjamin; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Charles Dewey; and two sisters, Connie and Rosella “Peggy” Dewey.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.
