Edward Bernard Amundsen

Edward Bernard Amundsen, 87, died on Friday, June 13, 2025, at his home in Wilson Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan.

  He was born on October 10, 1937, in Tacoma, Washington, the son of Henry Gerard and Anna Marie (McFadden) Amundsen.

  He grew up in Roy, Washington and graduated from Eatonville  High School in 1955 and received his Bachelor of Education from Central Washington University  in 1969. Edward was an educator for the Bethel School District in Spanaway, Washington. He retired in 1992.  

He worked many different jobs but his favorite was teaching.

  Edward married Nancy Heller on July 26, 1958, in Spanaway, Washington.

  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Jordan and the Knights of Columbus.

  He is survived by his wife, Nancy Amundsen; six children, Kathy (Mark) Johnson, James (Sharon) Amundsen, Julie (Brian) Cunningham, John (Wendy) Amundsen, Cheri (Gary) Lindholm and Jerry (Myrna) Amundsen; son-in-law, Chris Baron; thirty grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Baron in 2009; three grandsons, Karl Johnson in 2003, Patrick Baron in 2023 and Jerisen Amundsen in 2025; and one great grandson, Sebastian Johnson in 2024. one sister, Donna Drake; and three brothers, Jack Amundsen, Bob Amundsen and Dick Amundsen; 

  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Jordan.

  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to service time with a rosary at 10:00 A.M.

Interment will be in Fir Lane Memorial Park, Spanaway, Washington.  Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Jordan.
