Elizabeth Marie (Stanek) Ciszewski

  Elizabeth M. “Liz” Ciszewski, 93, of East Jordan, died on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

  She was born on July 12, 1927, in the Bohemian settlement in Jordan Township, Antrim County, Michigan, the daughter of George and Mary (Weisler) Stanek.

  Liz grew up in the Bohemian settlement.  On June 19, 1948, she married Edward C. Ciszewski at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in the Bohemian settlement.   

  They moved to Detroit for a couple of years and then to East Jordan.  Liz worked 30 plus years at Dura in East Jordan.  She retired in 1989.

  Liz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan and V.F.W. Auxiliary in East Jordan.

  She enjoyed listening to polka music and watching the catholic channel on TV.  The rosary and the crucifix were very important symbols in her catholic faith.

  Liz is survived by five children, twins, Gert “Trudi” Dunson of East Jordan and Betty (Richard) McKinnon of Shelby, North Carolina, Gary (Glenda) Ciszewski of Detour, Vicky (Keith) Smith of East Jordan and Michael (Michelle) Ciszewski of Traverse City; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ciszewski on March 19, 2008, daughter, Mary Ann Ciszewski on May 19, 2021, son-in-law, Leon E. Dunson on October 12, 2008; her sister, Vera J. Derenzy on June 7, 2021; and two brothers, Robert and Howard Stanek.

  Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan.  Rev. Fr. Matthew Furgiuele will officiate with interment following at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in East Jordan.

  The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until service time at church.  A rosary service will be held on Saturday at 9:45 A.M.  Arrangements by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.
