Gail “Fuzz” Ray Eby, 80, of Echo Township, Antrim County, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in Traverse City.
He was born on June 3, 1945, in Alba, Michigan, the son of Samuel and Mildred (Jones) Eby. He grew up in Alba and graduated from Alba High School.
He married Nancy Derenzy on June 15, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in East Jordan.
Gail worked 44 years for the East Jordan Iron Works, now known as EJ Company, in East Jordan. He retired in 2008.
Gail enjoyed having fun and was known as a trickster. He also enjoyed hunting. Gail was an avid bird watcher and Tiger’s fan.
Gail is survived by his wife, Nancy Eby of East Jordan; daughter, Christine (William) Gardener of East Jordan; sons, Jeff (Diana) Eby of Newport, Michigan, David Eby of Lakeland, Florida and Mark Eby of Lakeland, Florida; six grandchildren, Austin Eby, Alex Eby, Samantha (Blake) Brooks, Kathleen (Jeffery) Clark, Bill Gardner and Hailey (Joe) Houle; six great grandchildren, Nick, Lana Ray, Preston, Scarlett, Barrett and Konnor; one sister-in-law, Doris Eby of Ionia; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Eby on January 29, 1969; mother, Mildred (Jones) Eby Kidder on December 9, 1997; step-father, George H. Kidder on February 24, 1991; brothers, Dale Eby, David Eby and Glen Eby; and sister, Gladys Eby.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Lighthouse Missionary Church, East Jordan. Rev. Bart Adams will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Lighthouse Missionary Church. The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.
