Irving “Irv” Manville Obituary

Irving “Irv” Michael Manville, 70, of East Jordan, passed away peacefully, dancing in the moonlight (as the full moon was brightly shining) on April 11th, 2025, at Aspen Ridge Hospice Care in Gaylord, Michigan.

He was born on July 19, 1954, in Rogers City, Michigan, the son of Irving and Rose (Bissell) Manville. Irv attended school at Gaylord St. Mary’s, Gaylord Public Schools and graduated from Petoskey High School. Some of his fondest childhood memories were growing up in Gaylord. He also had many great memories with cousins, family, and friends at the Hunting cabin in the UP.

On June 25th, 1983, he married his wife Deborah “Debbie” (Noirot) Manville. Together they raised two wonderful sons and created wonderful memories in the town of East Jordan.

Irv worked at Glen’s, Allied Signal, Wit-son Carbide and many other jobs which included being in the procurement and sales field. Irv helped coach 4-H Soccer and Youth Basketball in East Jordan and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play in various sports and afterschool activities. He also enjoyed volunteering during the East Jordan Rotary Shows in greeting and welcoming guests. Irv enjoyed playing Tennis and was in a tennis league in East Jordan.

Irv, during his spare time, enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors whether it was hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, or going for walks on the beach. He also loved shooting pool, boating, traveling, playing board games, eating chocolate ice cream and watching war movies, historical documentaries and watching sports on tv. Irv also had a great love for music and had a great collection of vinyl records and loved singing some of his favorites to his granddaughters.

Irv is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deborah “Debbie” Manville  of East Jordan ; two sons Michael Manville of New York and Joseph (Zuleima) Manville of East Jordan ; three grandchildren Zoey, Emma, and Riley Manville of East Jordan ; four sisters Charlotte (Joe) Tebo of Wentzville, Missouri, Patricia “Patty” (Dennis Hartley) Alexander of Columbia, Missouri, Barbara “Barb” (Larry) Large of Gaylord, Michigan and Darlene “Dee” (Chuck) Evans of Holt Summit, Missouri  ; four sisters-in-law, Peggy (Larry) Potter of Charlevoix, Jane (John) Condon of Washington,  Jenny (Rich) Primrose-Gerber of Florida and Angela (Herschell) Sutton of East Jordan ; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irv and Rose Manville; Father-in-law, Richard “Dick” Noirot; Grandparents, Charlotte “Lottie” (Drost) Manville Sarasin and Robert “Bob” Sarasin; two brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” Copenhaver and Allen Primrose;  two nephews, Paul Tebo and Travis Copenhaver; and one niece, Claire Taglieri.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at the Boathouse 204 Water St, East Jordan, MI 49727 . The family will receive family and friends at 11:00 A.M. until service time at 12:00 P.M. Luncheon service to follow.
