Jack Grover Brown, 86, of East Jordan, died on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Petoskey.
He was born on January 29, 1939, in Detroit, the son of James Henry and Bernadine (Grover) Brown.
He grew up in East Jordan and married his sweetheart from his youth, Marilyn James. They were married in Ellsworth on December 15, 1962.
Jack worked as a quality control supervisor in East Jordan. He worked for the same company who had different names throughout the years. He started at Mt. Clemens Metal Products then it changed to Gulf & Western and retired from Dura in 2007 after closure.
Jack had served both the East Jordan Ambulance, now known as Jordan Valley EMS, and the East Jordan Fire Department. He retired from the East Jordan Fire Department in 1983.
He enjoyed driving through the Jordan Valley. Jack also enjoyed all kinds of hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family including many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and grand dogs.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marilyn Brown of East Jordan; two daughters, Shannon (Thomas) Fender of East Jordan and Denise (Zach) Brown-Pajtas of East Jordan; and one granddaughter, Courtney (Mitchell) Moeller of Waupun, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry “Bud”; and two sisters, Beverly and Marlene.
A private celebration of life service will be held later. The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
