James Allen Ballmer, 56, of East Jordan, died on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, after his fight with cancer.
He was born on February 25, 1966 in Detroit and grew up in Grand Blanc. He graduated from Atherton High School in Grand Blanc in 1984. He graduated from Kirkland Community College in Gaylord in 2019.
James worked as a maintenance technician from 2010 to 2022, at EJ, USA.
He married Darlene M. (Werden) Simpson on July 10, 2013, in Charlevoix.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and any automotive racing including mud racing.
James loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed regular date nights with his wife and family nights playing games.
James is survived by his wife, Darlene M. Ballmer of East Jordan; seven children, Sarah Smith of East Jordan, Nate Ballmer of Gaylord, Nicholas Ballmer of Gaylord, Thomas Simpson of East Jordan, Drayden Potter of East Jordan, Taylor Blain of East Jordan and Keegan Speer of East Jordan; five grandchildren, Destiny Smith of East Jordan, Mackenzie Smith of East Jordan, Christopher Smith of East Jordan, Audrey Ballmer of Gaylord and Waylon Ballmer of Gaylord; his father, Russell Ballmer of Grand Blanc; four siblings, Mark Ballmer of Alma, Julie (Samuel) Lilly of Grand Blanc, Charlie (Polly) Ballmer of Grand Blanc and Tammy (Dan) Lynch of Alma. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis (Rhodes) Ballmer.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., in East Jordan. Pastor Jason Richey of the East Jordan Community Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ballmer family
