This world was just not big enough! James Daryl Hewitt has taken off to explore the heavens instead. Raised in Muskegon, MI, he long ago escaped the snow and took refuge in the greater Palm Harbor, FL area. He leaves behind an impact and legacy lived on in his wife of 40 years, Marsha and children Dr. Sarah Hewitt, Kristine Hewitt-Faber and son-in-law Edward Faber Jr. As he joins his parents, Wesley and Agnes, brother-in-law, Mike Greene and his grandpup, Xander, he is survived by his eight siblings; Dennis (Ruth), Sharon Scanlan (Bob), Kathy Wahl (Will), Lois Greene, Carolyn Zietlow (George), Joseph (Gayle), David, and Pam Waybill (Bob). He leaves behind an enormously wonderful group of nieces, nephews and “adopted children” who will fondly remember the memories and impact that he had on each one of them.
His thirst for knowledge and curiosity of exploration compelled him to be a man of progress. He will be remembered as someone so willing to love, quick to smile and the person you could rely on to crack a joke when the room just got too serious. Always a volunteer to help a friend or a neighbor in need, he had an incurable bleeding heart to every child’s school fundraiser. He took every opportunity given to travel, learn and experience all this life had to offer him.
James Daryl Hewitt will be honored at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Muskegon, MI on Saturday October, 26 2019 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with services following at 11:00 am. He will then be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon, MI.
