Martin Rebec Obituary

Martin Albert Rebec, 84, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at his home in East Jordan.

He was born on October 7, 1935, in East Jordan, the son of William “Bill” and Vera (Batterbee) Rebec.

On May 12, 1962, in Lansing, he married Barbara Kay Jeffery.

He had served in the United States Army in South Korean during the Vietnam.

Martin was proud to work as a supervisor for the East Jordan Iron Works, now known as EJ, USA.  He retired in July of 1998.   He then went to work at Burnette Foods and retired from there on May 21, 2012.

He was a member of the American Legion Rebec-Hosler-Sweet Post #227 in East Jordan and the United Methodist Church.

Martin enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and gaming.  He was an awesome pool player.  He loved all sports but was an avid fan of Michigan football and the Detroit Tigers

He enjoyed deer camp with the ”boys” and always had some big story to tell.  Martin was always playing jokes on everyone and was very good at playing the spoon and doing the Hambone for all the kids.  He always loved all of his family and thought the world of them.  His niece and nephews would always laugh at how funny he was with his jokes and other stories.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara K. Rebec of East Jordan; daughter, Shirley Tarvis of Ypsilanti; two grandchildren, Abigil Elizabeth Tarvis and Trevor Joseph Tarvis, both of Ypsilanti; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ted and Toni Jeffery, Kim & Cal Diller and Robert Sherman; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Rebec; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Theo and Anna (Derenzy) Jeffery; a sister-in-law, Susan Sherman; and a nephew, Teddy Jeffery.
