Marty Lawrence Schumacher

  Marty Lawrence Schumacher, 70, of East Jordan, died Saturday, June 5, 2021, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

  He was born on April 26, 1951, in East Jordan, the son of Lawrence and Shirley (Simons) Schumacher. 

  Marty worked at the Ace Hardware in Boyne City for 34 years.  He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Marty enjoyed talking to people and being of help to them.  He also enjoyed knitting.  He had knitted an afghan for every child in his life when they turned 5 years.  Marty loved ringing the church bell on Sunday morning.  He never missed a day unless  church was closed.

  Marty is survived by two siblings, Darrel (Janet) Schumacher of South Lyon and Beth Ann Schumacher of Minneapolis; numerous nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; a couple of great great nieces and nephews; as well as good friends, Bob and Sue Moreau of East Jordan.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Schumacher on December 19, 1984; his father, Lawrence A. Schumacher on December 1, 2002; brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Charlene Schumacher; and an infant sister, Sunny Jean Schumacher.

  No services are scheduled.  Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
