Mary Ann (Kotovich) Bloomfield, 98, of East Jordan died on Thursday, February 6, 2020, in Petoskey.
She was born on July 30, 1921, in Detroit, the daughter of George and Anna (Fada) Kotovich. She grew up in East Jordan and graduated from East Jordan High School in 1940. She then studied nursing and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit.
She served as a nurse in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant from 1944 to 1946. She later worked as a nurse in a variety of health related venues.
On January 9, 1960, she married George W. Bloomfield at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, Michigan.
She was a member of the American Legion Post #227 in East Jordan.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Smigulec of East Jordan; three nephews, Robert (Joyce) Roberts of Algonac, Ted Kotowich of East Jordan and Tim Kotowich (Patrizia) of Munich, Germany; four nieces, Janet Pearson of Gaylord, Terry Perniciaro of Monroe Township, New Jersey, Niki Kenny of Petoskey and Kathy (Bruce) Reid of Charlevoix; several great nephews and great nieces. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bloomfield; son, Joseph Bloomfield, son-in-law, Steve Smigulec; four brothers; two sisters.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, 241 Pearson Road, Ferndale, Michigan with in interment following at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Southfield.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until service time at St. James Catholic Church.
