Melanie Kay Anderson McNitt, 57, of East Jordan, joined our heavenly father on Sunday, December 8th, after an inspiring and courageous battle with cancer.
Melanie was the beloved wife of Todd for 31 wonderful years; loving mother of Parker (Emily) McNitt, Tess (Alex) Wangeman, and Kendall (Lars) Roos; beloved daughter of Wayne and Janice Anderson. Melanie is also survived by her siblings, Heather (Luke) Klein and Kyle (Kim) Anderson; and many loving extended family and friends.
Melanie was a graduate of Sparta High School, Central Michigan University, and Western Michigan University. She was a longtime and passionate educator at East Jordan Elementary School.
Melanie was a loving, selfless, and incredibly kind-hearted mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, and her radiant smile will stay with us forever. Much of Melanie’s time was spent as an avid supporter of her community and a strong believer of retail therapy while maintaining her frugal upbringing.
Beyond her faith, family and friends, her greatest joy came from watching the sunsets in Northern Michigan and Trailer Estates in Florida. Melanie was universally loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, at 2 PM at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Melanie McNitt Endowment Fund, specifically created as supplemental funding for East Jordan Elementary School teacher led projects, c/o Charlevoix County Community Foundation, 301 Water St, East Jordan, MI 49727.
