Michael Wayne Miles, 80, died on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Petoskey, Michigan.
He was born on May 3, 1945, in New Hope, Kentucky, by George and Mildred (Williamson) Miles.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm. Michael was attached to the US Army Reserve Center 182nd Transportation Company in Traverse City.
He married Jeanette Cutler on December 22, 1972, in East Jordan.
He worked in East Jordan for Gulf & Western and Dura.
Michael loved gardening and the great outdoors. He enjoyed his time taking kids mushroom hunting and fishing, reading and watching old westerns and war stories,
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Miles; six siblings, Adrian (Barb) Miles, Stanley Miles, Brenda Mattinely, Maggie Hedden, Dickey Miles and Dorothy Miles; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one step daughter, Amy Cutler; three brothers, James “Sonny” Miles, Joe Miles and Tommy Miles.
A graveside service at Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan will be announced in the spring.
The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan.
