Neva Vivian (Hitchcock) Dunson

  Neva Vivian Dunson, 100, died Monday, May 15, 2023, surrounded by her family at home near East Jordan.

  She was born on November 20, 1922 in East Jordan, the daughter of Isaac Stanley and Lottie (White) Hitchcock. 

  She married William Donald Dunson on April 13, 1941, in East Jordan.

  Neva raised nine children and she loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, reading, traveling and her pets.

  Neva worked ten years as a cook at the East Jordan Senior Center.  She retired in 1993.

She is survived by four daughters, Susie Underwood, Carol Dunson, Nancy (Ron) Schroeder and Brenda Balogh; three sons, Louis (Diane) Dunson, John Dunson and Wayne (Laura) Dunson; 23 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Dunson on September 28, 1981; daughter, Jane DeNise on May 24, 2019; son, William Stanley Dunson on June 12, 2021; infant grandson, Joel Dunson in 1975; three sisters, Lottie, Beatrice and Gladys; and six brothers, Thomas, Edward, Cecil, Michael, Warren and Guy.

  Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.  Pastor Daniel Swank, of the Ontario Street Baptist Church in East Jordan, will officiate with interment following at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.

  The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
