Oscar Joseph Scheier, born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 17th, 1995, passed away on May 20th, 2024, at the age of 28.
Oscar spent his early childhood years in Chicago under the care of his mother, Julie Scheier, and his father, Paul Scheier (deceased 2014).
In 2001, Oscar welcomed his younger brother, Gus Scheier, into the family. The family relocated to northern Michigan in 2002 and settled in East Jordan in 2003, where they became active members of St. Joseph Catholic parish.
Growing up on Graves Crossing Road, the Jordan River Valley became Oscar's second home. He spent much of his time fishing, canoeing, and bird hunting with his dad. His love for the outdoors extended into his adulthood, where canoeing, camping, and hiking with friends were among his favorite activities away from the office.
After graduating from high school, Oscar attended Michigan State University, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. During his college years, he was an active member of the MSU Baja team, taking on a leadership role in his Junior and Senior years. Through Baja, he traveled across the U.S. to participate in racing events with various universities.
Oscar was a self-taught guitarist, an avid outdoorsman, a dedicated engineer, a thoughtful son, and an inspiring brother.
He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at St Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan.
