Raymond Patrick Prebble, 80, of East Jordan, passed away on June 2, 2022, surrounded by his family, at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He was born on March 20, 1942, in Boyne City, the second son of Lewis Walter and Iva Mildred (Kitson) Prebble, who preceded him in death.
On June 30, 1962 he married his fifth-grade crush, Elizabeth Anne Galmore. They lived 59 wonderful years together in East Jordan.
He graduated from East Jordan High School in 1960 where he was a member of F.F.A. He worked for Boyne Products from 1962-1968 when he was hired to manage the Boyne City Co-operative where “customer service” was his motto. He retired in 2005 after 37 years.
Ray was a hardworking farmer, gardener, woodsman, and outdoorsman. He lived his life by the seasons and was busy from sun up to sun down. He sawed a lot of logs for firewood and had many hobbies over the years including woodworking, beekeeping, making apple cider and the best maple syrup. Ray was very proud of his daughters and their accomplishments. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren telling stories, hunting, fishing, attending their athletic contests and school events.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Galmore) Prebble, daughters Kim Prebble, Janice (Gregg) Swanson, Angela (Darren) Graham, and grandchildren Weston Swanson, Bailey Swanson, Tegan Swanson, Ryan Graham, and Trent Graham, all of East Jordan and Lindsey (Devin) Mueller of Nebraska. His siblings Bob (Jane) Prebble of Boyne City, Suzi (Bob) Hart of New York, and Pete Prebble of North Carolina.
Ray will be remembered for his stewardship of the land, love of the outdoors, strong work ethic, wisdom and practical nature. At his request, there will be a family gathering at a later date.
