Richard “Dick” Lee Noirot, 86, of East Jordan died on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in Traverse City at the Munson Hospice House Care Facility with his wife and family by his side.
He was born on August 17, 1935, in Miller City, Ohio, the son of Albert and Lucille (Friend) Noirot. Dick attended school in Ida, Michigan and worked at a lumber yard driving truck.
On June 2, 1956, he married his sweetheart, Janet VanDeVenter in Petersburg, Michigan. On October 10, 1966, they relocated to East Jordan with 4 beautiful little girls, and the best was yet to come. Together they raised five lovely ladies and created wonderful memories in the town of East Jordan.
Dick worked the first few winters at the East Jordan Plastics. Once he started building, he never stopped. The family home, the blue condos on M-66 Highway, the milk parlor at the Wieland Farm in Ellsworth and many other beautiful custom homes in the area are works of his visionary craftsmanship. Dick also served as a trustee and as a past school board president of the East Jordan Public Schools. He was also a proud member of the East Jordan Lions Club and the Baders Rayders snowmobiling group.
Dick, during his spare time, enjoyed spending time with his family, being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening and going for walks with his dog, “Sargent”. He also loved golfing, bowling, boating, snowmobiling and watching old western movies.
Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet Noirot of East Jordan; five daughters, Debbie (Irv) Manville of East Jordan, Peggy (Larry) Potter of Charlevoix, Jane (John) Condon of Washington, Jenny (Rich) Geber of Florida, Angela (Herschell) Sutton of East Jordan; nine grandchildren, Brian (Tiffanie) Primrose of Florida, Michelle (Jason) Smith of California, Kali (Jeremy) Taglieri of Fort Benning, Georgia, Laura (Eric) Migda of Charlevoix, Michael Manville of New York, Joseph (Zuleima) Manville of East Jordan, Allie (Jeff) Sutherland of Vanderbilt, Jacques (Kelly) Newman of Washington, Herschell Sutton of East Jordan; 11 Great Grandchildren, Wyland and Sidney Smith of California, Andrew and Lauren Primrose of Florida, Seth and Askel Migda of Charlevoix, Zoey, Emma and Riley Manville of East Jordan, Lewis and Ben Taglieri of Fort Benning, Georgia; one sister, Alice Otto of Canton; as well as one brother-in-law, Robert Lucht of Lambertville.
