Robert J. "Trapper Bob" Kotsch, 82, of Jordan Township Antrim County, died on Friday, August 17, 2018, at his home, with his wife Mary Ann by his side. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at his home at 2038 Graves Crossing, located off of M-66 Highway, North of Mancelona.
He was born on October 24, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Jacob and Caroline Kotsch. He grew up in Croswell Michigan and graduated from Croswell Lexington High School in 1953.
Bob was extremely proud to have served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959, stationed at Marine Corps Base, Twentynine Palms, California.
He worked as an independent builder and contractor for 26 years, and retired in 2000 along with the love of his wife Mary Ann (Kotalik) the owner and operator of the Round Table Restaurant. This began the next chapter of their lives when they married on January 6, 2001.
He was an avid trapper, who loved hunting, fishing and all things outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing trips, especially to Alaska, as well as his four trips to Africa and many other adventures. Bob loved his family and was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Kotsch of East Jordan Michigan; four children, Bryan (Stephanie) Kotsch of Kalkaska, Brenda (Jim) Utley of Goshen, Indiana, Melissa (Theron) Higgins of Johannesburg, MI and Tammy (Rick Cook) Gee of Troy. MI; four grandchildren, Heather, Amanda, Kara and Alleysha; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
