Susan (Jacobson) Haley

Susan Haley, 59, died Monday, October 25, 2021, surrounded by her family at home in Ironton.

  She was born on February 1, 1962 in Flint, the daughter of Donald and Rosemary (Ballinger) Jacobson.

    She married her soulmate Scott Haley on June 20, 1981, in Fenton. After graduating from Baker College with her Health Information Technology degree,  she and Scott moved their family from Flint to Ironton in 1989. 

Susan worked at Northern Michigan Hospital as a certified coding specialist and a clinical documentation improvement specialist for over 20 years before leaving. She then moved onto a job as a consultant at Claro Healthcare that combined her passion for the career she loved and her love of traveling. Susan was also the co-president of the Michigan chapter of the ACDIS. 

    She enjoyed crafts, pottery, traveling, riding rollercoasters, and camping with friends and family. She enjoyed spending time with family and most of all spending time and traveling with Scott. She loved spoiling all of her grandkids and supporting them in all of their sporting events.

She is survived by her husband, Scott Haley of Ironton, three children, 

Scott (Dawn) Haley of East Jordan, Kristin Haley of East Jordan and Jackie (Wesley) Petrie, all of East Jordan; ten grandchildren, Tapanga Haley, Eligh Wynkoop, Scotty Haley, Dylan Wynkoop, Onika Haley, Trace Wynkoop, Grant Petrie, Myla Petrie, Nova Petrie and Harper Petrie; her father, Donald Jacobson of East Jordan; one sister, Mary (Ed) Egan of Mississippi; four brothers, Patrick Jacobson of Manistee, Daniel Jacobson of East Jordan, David Jacobson of Mississippi and Bradley Jacobson of Mississippi; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Jacobson on April 8, 2003 and one sister, Stephanie Jacobson in 1985.

    A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan, MI

  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
