Vera Elizabeth Gee, 96, of East Jordan, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
She was born on January 15, 1924, in East Jordan, the daughter of George and Bertha (Jones) Staley. She grew up in East Jordan and graduated from East Jordan High School in 1941.
On October 25, 1941, in East Jordan, she married Vale Maurice “Pee Wee” Gee. Her husband of seventy-four years went to be with his Lord on November 18, 2015.
Vera was a member of the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, sewing, crocheting and playing table games.
She is survived by six children, Bud (Joanne) Gee of Gaylord, Bonnie (Robert) Eggle of Cadillac, Donald (Margaret) Gee of East Jordan, Evelyn (John) Thompson of East Jordan, Elaine (Thomas) Birgy of East Jordan and Julie (James, Jr.) Meredith of East Jordan; one daughter-in-law, Shari Gee of East Jordan; fifteen grandchildren, Keith (Angela) Gee, Brenda (Jim) Weller, Steve (Theresa) Gee, Brian Gee, Christine (Todd) Palmer, Jacqueline Gee Swanson, Jennifer Eggle, Wendy (John) Crusoe, Michael (Charity) Gee, Anthony (Lauren) Kitchen, Rachael Coates, Matthew Birgy, Krystal (Craig) Johnson, Amy (Ben) Newington and Lucas (Jessica) Meredith; twenty great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Russell Gee in 1999, granddaughter Danielle Kitchen in 1973; grandson, Kristopher Eggle in 2002; great granddaughter, Selah Coates in 2006; brother, Clarence Staley and sister, Gladys Stibitz.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 3:00 pm at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan. Rev. Bart Adams will officiate with interment following in the spring at Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
The family will receive friends at the Lighthouse Missionary Church on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorials to Grandvue Medical Care Facility or Lighthouse Missionary Church.
