Warren Frank, Jr. Obituary

  Warren H. “Pete” Frank, Jr., 84, of East Jordan, went to be  with his Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

  He was born on September 20, 1935, in Royal Oak, Michigan, the son of Warren H., Sr. and Dora (Gates) Frank.  In 1939, his family moved to East Jordan.  He graduated from East Jordan High School in 1953.  He participated and excelled in baseball, football basketball and track.  In the year Warren graduated, he led the Red Devils in basketball to the State Quarter Finals.

  On January 4, 1954, Warren enlisted in the United State Air Force and trained in electronics.  He remained an active basketball player and was a member of the Far East All-Star Basketball Team.

  On November 26, 1956, he married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Donaldson. 

  In 1956, he was invited to try out for the U.S. Olympic Team.  He was also the MVP of Lackland Air Force Base Basketball Team from 1956 to 1959.

  In the U.S. Air Force, Warren received a total of eight medals including the Joints Service Commendation Medal.  He retired in January of 1974.

  He officiated in football, baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball.  He retired from officiating in 1988.  Warren was a member International Associations of Approved Basketball Officials from 1969 to 1974, President of the North Bay Football Officials Association, and President of the North Bay Basketball Officials Association.

  Warren was also president of the East Jordan Lions Club in 1981 to 1982, Zone Chairman of District 13 of Lions Club in 1983, President of the Six Mile Lake Association in 1986 and Commander of the Central Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6985 in 1991 to 1992.  He was proud to have been the first commander to win the White Hat in 50 years of the Post.  He was also proud to have helped organize and supervise the building of three Veterans monuments in Dunsmore Cemetery, Morehouse Cemetery and at the V.F.W. Hall in Central Lake.  Warren organized the Senior Golf League at the Mallard Golf Course near East Jordan and ran the league for eight years from 1999 to 2007.

  He is survived by two daughters, Roxann (Rick) Roberts of East Jordan and Mona (David) Stanski of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren, Aaron Stanski, Ryan Stanski, Katrina Dyer, Justin Roberts and Jessica Chaperon; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Jackie Inman of North Carolina; and one sister-in-law, Susie Frank of Manton.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.

   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the East Jordan Community Church.  Pastor Jason Richey will officiate with military honors following at Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township, Antrim County.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
